. In the first session of the meeting Ana Paula Pardal open the meeting with a few welcome words, followed by the presentation of all element. The project coordinator - Brian Maguire - spoke about the expectations for this meeting, referring to the need to reach an agreement on the methodology of the project, taking into account the different institutional contexts. Were also discussed issues relating to the need of the building of the website, so that there can be placed there the information derived from the work carried out by the partners. Then was presented the program of the remaining days. Norway, the next country to receive the partners and organize the next meeting, presented a DVD about the institution integrated in the project, the “Furuskogen School”.
The program of the 24th began with the departure from Lisbon to Pinheiro da Cruz Prison. After the reception of the partners at the Prison, it took place at the school, a presentation of the establishment itself, its characteristics, the prison population, activities, and there was opportunity to make some questions and share information on the procedures followed in different countries in this field. Then the partners attended a presentation of the Music Bands of both Prisons (Caxias and Pinheiro da Cruz), that showed the work that have been developed by the inmates that integrate these two bands.This musical moment was followed by the delivery of certificates of participation to the musicians and exchange of ideas between all the participants.
At 14h30m started the work of the afternoon with a meeting whose purpose was focused on the analysis of the application of the “Rosenberg” Test: doubts, difficulties in the implementing or other assessments about it. It was requested to partners to share their opinion on:The test that was chose as the instrument to evaluate the development / promotion of self-esteem ;The application of this instrument and the feedback of its use.The doubts raised about the test where related mainly to the concepts and language used. Following the discussion about the test instructions, some ideas were agreed; one was the removal of the restriction of applying the tests only to nationals, the integration of information about the context / situation in which the participants are integrated, as defined in section 5 of the Draft Programme Grundtvig.
Was also agreed that when the partners send the results of the tests to Portugal, will also send a short report containing information about the context in which tests were used, which activities and if possible views of the participants about their activities that they developed and what they thought and feel about them. Portugal and Romania had already started the application of the Test.
The works on the 25th began in Caxias Prison, where were held the Psychology Seminar “Building Self Esteem in Prison: is it possible?”.The seminar was initiated with the presentation of the Prison Psychologists Manuela Moura and Paula Santos that talk with the Partners about the concept self-esteem, which led to an intense exchange of ideas about it. This moment was followed by a presentation of Dr Sergio Lopes, a Psychologist of a high security prison (Monsanto Prison), which addressed the theme of self-esteem but directing it to the prison context, making the analysis of the limitations and constraints that this kind of scenario brings in it and how we can intervene in the development/promotion of self-esteem.This theme, once again, led to an intense exchange of views and ideas, enriched by the fact that they are attended by representatives of different realities and they are all very interested and motivated.After a short break, was made a visit to to the prison and the environments where they develop social and recreational activities and sports, Pottery Room, Gym, Music Room, Library and Classrooms. In the beginning of the afternoon, was developed the final evaluation meeting.
